Scholarly student Morton Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and popular yet underachieving athlete Jenko (Channing Tatum) missed their school prom in 2005. Schmidt's attempt to ask a girl to be his date was unsuccessful, leading to rejection, while Jenko's failing grades resulted in him being barred from attending.

To carry out this task, they are given new identities and class schedules that match their past academic performances.

The Korean "Aroma Of Christ Church" which served as the covert police headquarters, is actually the Historic St. James AME Church located at 222 North Roman Street in the Big Easy. Despite being a fully operational church, the filmmakers made it appear dilapidated and deserted to fit the film's needs. Upon returning to school, they have a heated argument that quickly escalates into a physical fight, causing a disturbance during a school play. As a result, they are both expelled from school and terminated from the Jump Street program.

The drug was created accidentally by Mr. Walters, who started selling it to students as a means to supplement his income and pay alimony to his ex-wife. After catching Eric smoking marijuana, Mr. Walters convinced him to become his dealer.

Prom scenes were filmed at West Jefferson High School, a public high school located in Harvey, Louisiana. The school serves students from Harvey and the surrounding areas, and was founded in 1955.

From the heart of New Orleans, take the Crescent City Connection bridge (US-90 BUS W) over the Mississippi River toward Westbank/Superdome. It’s a seven-mile journey in total, so it shouldn’t take too long at all outside of peak hour.

During the climactic chase, Mr. Walters and Eric flee with both the money and Molly as a captive. Schmidt and Jenko pursue them closely, and Jenko constructs an improvised explosive device which he utilizes to eliminate the gang. While attempting to shoot Schmidt, Mr. Walters ends up hitting Jenko instead, who takes the bullet in his arm to protect Schmidt. As a result, Schmidt unintentionally fires back at Mr. Walters, causing him to lose his genitalia.

This shootout was filmed at Union Street and O'Keefe Avenue, a bustling intersection in the heart of downtown New Orleans. This corner is home to a variety of businesses and striking architecture, and is located in a neighborhood known for its diverse population and vibrant community events.
