David's space was clean, large, well run, well managed, easy to get to, and had all the amenities. When we were loading in, they had speakers and music hooked up so we built out our set to some nice tunes. The overhead lights changed colors and dimmed how we wanted them which was very helpful. Dave also has an impressive amount of EQ available for rent which meant we didn't have to bring a bunch of stuff in or out. The communication was also super helpful. We had a call before the shoot to discuss needs, and the studio prepped and ready with all our needs when we got there.

The space was perfect for our shoot. Easy load in, freight elevator opens right into the studio. Plenty of space, very clean. It has all the amenities you could need. Very versatile and comfortable space. We really appreciated having the curtains on rails for extra soundproofing. Bill was extremely kind and accommodating. Helped us every step of the way. Would absolutely come here again.

The studio looks better than the pictures. It comes with a private half bathroom and a kitchenette. Everything is very clean and well cared for. Gina is very accommodating and highly communicative. 10/10 highly recommend.

Pros and Cons of Productions in Manhattan

Renting production spaces for hosting productions in Manhattan can be a great way to create film, television, or other media content. However, it is crucial to consider both the pros and cons of this kind of setup before deciding whether it is the right option for you:

Advantages

  • Manhattan offers easy access to experienced crew members and technicians.
  • Most production spaces offer modern and up-to-date amenities such as soundstages and editing facilities.
  • Producers can save costs as a result of being able to rent the space for shorter periods than owning one.

Disadvantages

  • There could be limited availability due to demand from other filmmakers and producers competing for the same space.
  • Producers could face increased complexity from handling paperwork associated with renting the space, such as insurance requirements.
  • The risk is that rental agreements may not be able to be extended beyond their initial duration when timelines are extended due to unexpected circumstances or delays during production.

Tips on How to Organize Productions in Manhattan

Arranging productions in the bustling city of Manhattan can be daunting. To make it easier for producers and directors, here are helpful tips to ensure a successful production in this fantastic city:

  • Identify and assess your filming requirements: Before beginning any arrangements for a production in Manhattan, it is important to identify and assess the needs of the production. This includes determining the locations you want to use, what actors or crew you need, and how long your production will take.
  • Secure necessary permits: Depending on where you want to film in Manhattan, you may need special permits from local government authorities or neighborhoods before you start shooting. Make sure to contact relevant authorities ahead of time for proper permissions.
  • Research location options: With such a wide range of locations available, research different options that would best fit your production needs. Also, consider which locations may be more cost-effective for your production budget.
  • Find experienced professionals: For a successful production shoot in Manhattan, hire experienced professionals who understand the complexities of filming in such an urban area. This could include experienced cinematographers, set designers, and other crew members who have previous experience working in a fast-paced environment like New York City’s streets.
  • Consider transportation methods: When planning your shoots, remember to factor transportation methods into your budget, as this can add up quickly when filming around Manhattan’s busy streets.
