Best Sports Photographers in New Orleans

Whether it’s a coach hollering at his players from the sidelines or a basketballer slotting a shot through the hoop, sports imagery vividly brings the action to life. Despite there being no movement, a well-framed shot taken at exactly the right split-second can make you feel a part of the energy, both on and off the field.

In New Orleans, you’ll find some of Louisiana’s most talented sports photographers who enjoy busy careers documenting both amateur and professional games. In this guide, we’ll introduce 7 who have earned their stripes in the city’s sports photography industry.

Parker Waters Photography

Originally from Fort Walton Beach in Florida, Parker Waters made the move to New Orleans to attend Tulane University. It was here that he discovered his love for photography, particularly shooting sports. While he embarked on a career in the insurance industry post-college, he eventually decided to leave the corporate world and reconnected with his camera. He shoots with high-end Nikon bodies and lenses for capturing both professional and amateur sports that range from football to basketball, baseball, and volleyball.

He’s also captured cycling races throughout North America and has worked as a photographer on the ski slopes of Switzerland, France, Italy, Canada, and Chile. Away from work, Marc loves traveling and has explored as far afield as Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America.

B. Garrison Photography

While Brooke Garrison specializes in weddings, senior and newborn portraits, she also regularly documents junior athletes. She established her business with a vision of capturing inspiring images and creating experiences that would exceed her clients’ expectations.

Brooke works out of a vintage-style studio in New Orleans where she showcases her stunning images. It’s a cozy space where clients can feel at ease before and after their sports photography shoot. When she’s not working, Brooke is a busy mom to three boys and embracing all of the treasured moments that life brings.

Jerry Ward

Not only is Jerry Ward a New Orleans native but he has been a professional photographer for his entire working career. It’s seen him document everything from Super Bowls to visits by the Pope, as well as the Indy 500 (more than a dozen times).

Jerry has just completed a three-year contract at the Dallas Museum of Art shooting the entire collection and now enjoys a busy freelance career as a photographer. Aside from having his work published in “Sports Illustrated” and “The Sporting News”, he’s created imagery for almost every major newspaper in the United States.
