Best Sports Photographers in Nashville

When you think of sports photography, you probably envision on-field action, with all of its energy and emotion. But the truth is, sports photography also includes portraits of youth teams and college seniors, as well as branded shots to promote sports-related companies.

In Nashville, you’ll find photographers working across the breadth of the niche, each with their own unique style. In this article, we’ll share some of our favorites and what it is that sets them apart from the rest.

Brody Hall

Hailing from Arkansas, Brody Hall now calls Tennessee “home” where he’s established a reputation as one of the top sports photographers in Nashville. Throughout his career, he’s photographed NBA and NFL games, Little League matches, as well as motorcycle races and high school track and field. He’s traveled around the United States documenting various teams, companies, and sporting brands, as well as working as a wedding and event photographer. He describes himself as a “much better sports photographer than athlete” and absolutely loves his job!

J. Wilkinson

J. Wilkinson grew up in Florida and moved to Nashville for college where he’s since established his own photography business. He specializes in shooting sporting events, athletes, and musicians, drawing on his experience touring the world as a musical director for 10 years. He loves that as a sports photographer, he gets a front-row seat at amazing events and gets to meet wonderful people along the way. Previous clients include the National Football League, Major League Soccer, and US Figure Skating.

David Bean

David Bean grew up in hippie communities in New York and New Hampshire and by the age of 25, he’d lived in 25 different towns and cities. He’s drawn on this experience in the way he views the world and approaches his work, with an ability to get along with almost everyone he meets as a sports photographer. He says he’s “not an artsy-fartsy person who takes themselves too seriously” but a commercial artist who understands that his job is to “increase a client’s bottom line”.

DR Sports Photography

While DR Sports Photography works in Health IT by day, his after-work time is dedicated to documenting sports as a freelancer. He shoots a variety of sporting events throughout Nashville and Middle Tennessee, particularly for the Nashville Post Sports and Main Street Preps. When the football season rolls around, you’ll find him documenting games at the Eagleville and Blackman high schools, which are attended by his sons.

JB Brookman

While JB Brookman has worked with some of the world’s biggest names in entertainment (BB King, Elton John, and Taylor Swift, to name a few), he’s now dedicated to taking “epic images” of seniors. In the sporting world, he’s particularly renowned for his Legacy Sportraits, which take place in his well-equipped studio. As a former athlete and baseball player, JB instantly connects to the sportspeople he works with and creates intense poses that he transforms into legendary images.

Kohl Photo

Kohl Photo specializes in not only documenting sporting action but also fashion shows, weddings, and corporate headshots. Stephen Kohl has worked as a commercial photographer since the 1990s and is skilled at capturing images quickly and efficiently, without compromising on composition or attention to detail. Stephen processes all of his own raw images and is a talented retoucher, ensuring the final images are high-resolution and high quality.

Price Chambers

With previous clients that include “Outside Magazine”, Teton Pines Golf & Tennis Club, and the Jackson Hole Rodeo, Price Chambers knows what it takes to capture the winning shot. This award-winning photojournalist is a Nashville native and has worked on a diverse range of editorial assignments that include sports coverage. He has a B.A. in Photojournalism from Western Kentucky University and worked as a newspaper intern in Kentucky, Michigan, and Colorado, all of which has contributed to his unique storytelling style.

Schenk Photography

Schenk Photography specializes in documenting a whole range of events, including conventions, meetings, and professional sports. Their team of photographers is skilled at anticipating the moment, something that’s essential when capturing fast-paced action and split-second exchanges. In addition to live event photography, they also offer professional headshots backed by their customized green screen. Their concept? “Dynamic photography by friendly people”. If their reviews are anything to go by, it seems to have been a recipe for success.

Casey’s Photography

While Casey established his photography business in 2012 when he was still in high school, he says that it wasn’t until he went to college at Freed-Hardeman University that he really learned the ins and outs of the industry. Today, he describes himself as a “workaholic” and strives to create images that will last a lifetime for his dedicated clients. His senior sports portraits include dramatically lit shots of golfers, baseball players, and cheerleaders, and he’s collaborated with professional teams such as the Nashville Predators and the Tennessee Titans.
