Rustic, Neon Wedding
Real life couple Maddy and Tim rock this neon wedding theme! Colour is key here and they’ve displayed it perfectly. From neon painted rocks to cotton candy – we’re not kidding – this inspirational shoot is all about having a good time at your wedding.
Flavours, colours, and smiles are what we see in these images. And all of them can be described as delicious! Rustic furniture works extremely well with this theme; neutral and bold combine beautifully.
What to Look for in a Venue for a Rustic, Neon Wedding
A rustic, neon wedding is an interesting contrast. Nature is a massive component of a rustic wedding style, and the setting is often calm and laid back. On the other hand, neon-themed weddings tend to be colourful, lively, and bright. So finding a venue with a perfect blend of these themes may seem daunting.
But the truth is, there are tons of wedding venues you can find, from farms and barns to other outdoor spaces, like vineyards, campgrounds, and parks. Some unique locations like art galleries, museums, and libraries may also work. The key is incorporating various neon design elements and lots of vivid and loud colours in your chosen rustic venue.
Table Setting Style for a Rustic, Neon Wedding
You can be as playful as you want by combining out-of-this-world hues with chic, rustic style. Experiment with wedding flowers and opt for centrepieces with pops of vibrant tones, like sunny yellows, bright pinks, bold reds, cool blues, and electric orange.
If you’re not fond of traditional flower centrepieces, go crazy with candles. Or add quirkiness to your reception with wooden, textured vases full of colourful paper pinwheels. You can also include fairy lights in neon to give your wedding a magical vibe.
Whether you want to show off those energetic hues in smaller doses or huge amounts is all up to you. The goal is to create a harmonious table setting that suits your rustic, neon wedding style.
Dress & Accessories for a Rustic, Neon Wedding
A rustic, neon wedding is a highly flexible and versatile style, so different wedding dresses and accessories would work. You can go for something elegant and flashy or a casual vintage dress that matches your garden backdrop or rural setting. Red, dashing pink, gold, and neon bridal gowns will make you stand out. They’re excellent options for breaking away from the traditional white dress.
Since rustic, neon weddings are often minimal and simple, there’s no need to spend much on sparkling details. You can always use your wedding flowers as accessories for a more natural appeal. Go for large blooms for bolder looks and small flowers for an intricate appearance, craft a large stunning DIY bead necklace, or complete your look with a fascinator.
Menswear for a Rustic, Neon Wedding
With new unique dresses for brides and bridesmaids popping up on the market, grooms and groomsmen shouldn’t be left out. Gone are the days when their only options were the traditional suit and tie accessorised with cuff links and a pocket handkerchief. You want to achieve a vintage vibe without looking plain and dull.
A neon wedding tuxedo might be too much for most grooms, but you can pick a traditional suit with a neon tie or a coloured dress shirt instead of the conventional white. A vest paired with blue jeans will also look incredible for a rugged appearance. Then, complete the style with a vibrant boutonniere to complement the attire.
Wedding Invitations for a Rustic, Neon Wedding
Do you want to give your guests the right first impression of your big day? Your wedding invitations should ideally introduce your rustic, neon wedding theme. You might want some sunflowers and woodgrain, inspired by pleasant, country living.
Perhaps, you can start by creating an envelope or having an exterior design that clearly speaks ‘rustic,’ a bit more boho and rough around the edges. Then, surprise them with pops of bright yellows, pinks, blues, or greens once they open the invitation. Keep your colours minimal. But you may want to highlight your names in cool neon twinkle lights or personalise your invitations with some glow-in-the-dark elements for something unique and fun.
Wedding Cake Ideas for a Rustic, Neon Wedding
Rustic, neon wedding cakes are a fantastic addition to a laid-back and playful wedding day. You can still go crazy for intricate organic details, but instead of sticking to the neutral and muted colour palettes, choose bold blooms to brighten up your dessert table.
A gothic, dark-hued cake is also becoming a trend for weddings. Add a vivid flower design that matches the bride’s wedding bouquet, and it’s sure to be making a statement. If you’re after a fruity dessert, colourful berries will look incredible on a cream sponge cake. Not only does it taste delicious, but it can also serve as a spectacular centrepiece that everyone will want a slice of.
Reception Decor for a Rustic, Neon Wedding
You don’t have to worry about creating a pastoral setting if the wedding location is in a barn, farm, ranch, or forested area. The natural elements of these outdoor spaces are enough to achieve an elegant blend of country and vintage wedding style. Your next focus is on adorning your reception venue with stunning neon wedding colours.
Be creative and think outside the box by infusing bright, charming hues with beautiful blooms and greenery. Instead of using all softer colour palettes, like sage green or dusty blue, integrate eye-popping hints of cool blue or lime green. Perhaps, you can play with enchanting neon lights and unique table lamps or hang a gorgeous neon chandelier for a more dramatic effect.
Portrait Props for a Rustic, Neon Wedding
Having a photo booth is an excellent opportunity to get fun photos of your guests at your wedding. It’s also the best way for those shy around cameras to ease up. And if you want them to show off their playful side, have fun with the embellishments and decorations. While there are various stylish photo booths you can rent, it’s still best to create your beautiful portrait props.
Bead and bling through those glorious patterns and textures. Go for coloured props and accessories or maximise the festival lighting. A photo booth with a custom neon sign will also brighten your festivity and get everyone in the party mood.
Favours & Gifts for a Rustic, Neon Wedding
Sure, handing out wedding favours during the reception is customary, but it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t put any thought and effort into the gift you’ll give your guests. After all, there’s no better way to express your gratitude than by giving them personalised items with a balance of creativity and practicality.
Your options are limitless for wedding favours and gifts for a rustic, neon wedding. A scented pastel rainbow candle that changes scent as it goes is a smart choice, while mini succulents in brightly-coloured pots make cute wedding favours. You can also make paper parasols in shades of magenta or pink or ones that go well with your wedding colour palette.
Outdoor Wedding Ideas for a Rustic, Neon Wedding
Whether it’s a botanical garden, national park, or the beach, there are many ways to transform your wedding into an epic celebration by adding neon art and designs. Let your imaginations run wild as you work with an empty, sprawling landscape and turn it into a venue you envision.
You’ll only need to enhance the already beautiful surroundings, so try not to overdo your decor. Choose a neon centrepiece like a glowing sign to breathe life into your reception, or use bright wedding flowers for a show-stopping wedding arch. Also, don’t be afraid to pair neutrals with neon shades to make a statement.
Rustic Neon Wedding Inspiration
Today’s rustic wedding inspiration shoot takes ‘rustic weddings’ to a whole new level and I just adore it! With an explosion of fun colors and unique styling details, the ladies at N-Joy! Weddings and Events really created something fabulous here and Carolynn Seibert Photography captured it all beautifully.
From Lesley of N-Joy! Weddings and Events – “In creating and producing this shoot, we wanted to give brides (and all those planning events) a fun, bright, and whimsical inspiration. We wanted a colour combo that was exciting and new; something that would spark inspiration, so we incorporated lots of bright and neon colours. The ceremony and reception took place in a barn. We wanted to show that you can do electric colours in a rustic venue. We love that contrast.
We included some DIY elements that anyone can do like spray painting gold candlesticks, painting the rims of water glasses, and creating those fun pinatas. Those were easier said than done, but the final project was worth it!”
From N-Joy! Weddings and Events – “The storyline of this shoot follows a bride and groom who have a bright, rustic ceremony full of emotion and love, and then have a blast at their reception. The bride changes into a fun, flirty cocktail dress and lets her hair down, and the pair of them enjoy the afternoon drinking lemonade, eating cotton candy, and playing with pinatas!
This shoot was made all the more sweet because we used real couple Maddy and Tim, who actually celebrated their one year wedding anniversary the weekend before the shoot. You can certainly see the real love and tenderness radiating from them in the photos, and it’s so wonderful to have that celebration mirrored in all the details.”
