Any wedding photo shoot that includes a lovely umbrella means romance and enchantment. The setting for this inspirational wedding photo shoot is magical. Read on and be assured that rain on your big day does not make any difference!
Colour Palette for a Romantic Rainy Day Wedding
Today's inspiration for a romantic rainy day wedding brings us some of the most beautiful tones, hence proving that even a rainy day wedding can shine. Natalie and Aleksey opted for neutral and earthy tones for their special day. Soft ivory, stormy gray, and hues of pastels were the centre of attention for this ultra-romantic affair. This extraordinary colour palette made their wedding special and elegant.
It's important to choose the wedding colours that represent the theme and style of your wedding to bring out the most in every aspect. These light tones with flashes of colour here and there sets just the mood for a marvelous rainy day celebration, even though you cannot predict the weather when planning!
Outdoor Wedding Ideas for a Romantic Rainy Day Wedding
There is something magical and romantic about the rain that can make your wedding day even more memorable than you can imagine. Rain showers can't dampen all the goodness that you have in store for your guests if you plan well in advance in regards to your wedding venue. You can't control the weather in an outdoor event but you can definitely control the venue arrangements.
While you can use rain to your advantage for the photo shoot, you must keep your guests warm by creating a cosy environment because there is nothing better than cosying up on a rainy day! Look for an outdoor venue that can either provide a tent or simply have a backup arrangement indoors.
Wedding Invitations for a Romantic Rainy Day Wedding
Wedding invites are another important add-on that set the tone for a wedding and you don't want to call on your guests with something that does not reflect your style and personality. You can customise every detail of your wedding invite, from the paper to the colour, design, and even the font.
This couple chose a simple yet aesthetically pleasing wedding invite with the primary focus on shades of ivory and pink. It is a simple envelope with an ivory base, wrapped in a silk pink ribbon and cute wedding invite banner, and a blush pink card. So subtle and sophisticated!
Wedding Bouquets and Boutonnieres for a Romantic Rainy Day Wedding
No wedding is complete without an abundance of pretty pastel blooms. And while you can add flowers to every element of your wedding, bridal bouquets are perhaps the most important of them all. Why? Because they will become your best partner in all of your beautiful bridal portraits, and more importantly, you will carry them down the aisle to meet your other half.
Natalie carried this loaded bouquet that surely left a long-lasting impression thanks to the garden roses and ranunculus in white, ivory, and blush pink. An absolutely astonishing range of pastel hues!
The groom went for a rather minimal but super beautiful boutonniere composed of single ivory rose and ice-hued leaves wrapped in a blush silk ribbon.
Wedding Dresses and Accessories for a Romantic Rainy Day Wedding
The wedding dress, in white, tells all the tales of love and also has fantastic back designs. The bride in this wedding inspiration board looks stunning in this semi-transparent back design with buttons. The upper part of the dress is made of intricate embroidery on the net fabric while the rest of the gown flows down to the bride's feet in an amazing figure-hugging manner.
The dress is the definition of art with its head-to-toe floral embroidery and gorgeous umbrella-cut border making the bride look all the more breathtaking. An elegant flower hair bun, long, sterling silver earrings, and white pumps complete the graceful look of this bride on her rainy day affair.
Groom Style for a Romantic Rainy Day Wedding
If the vibe of your wedding day is relaxed, then why not consider a light colour jacket for yourself? Not only the shades are perfect for complementing soft and romantic colour palettes but are also gorgeous for an outdoor celebration. Plus, you can pair them with either another light colour or a deep bold tone, all your choice.
For his romantic rainy day wedding, Aleksey wore a tailored-to-perfection stormy gray three-piece suit. He paired it with a blush tie and shiny black shoes. A white pocket square, matching the colour of his shirt, was neatly tucked into his suit jacket pocket making him look simply perfect not only for the occasion but also for the pictures!
Wedding Photo Shoot Ideas for a Romantic Rainy Day Wedding
If you get married in the rainy season, then it's easy to get nervous about those big day variables. Will the ends of your dress get ruined? Will your hair turn frizzy? And the most concerning of all, how will your rainy day wedding photos turn out?
However, Natalie and Aleksey did not let the raindrops dampen their big day and managed to capture some pretty amazing shots. For starters, you can take a stroll through the empty streets or capture one of the most intimate rainy day weddings poses under the shared umbrella. Steal a sweet kiss here and there, and get carried away with the most romantic big day moments. Letting loose leads to the most natural and amazing photo shoot.
Portrait Props for a Romantic Rainy Day Wedding
Portrait props make the wedding drizzles look even better and some of these amazing shots deserve a good chunk of space on your walls. When the bride and the groom have the same props or a variety of props, it's easier for the photographers to get creative with poses and perspectives. Like in this inspiration board, our lovely couple can be seen posing under a white umbrella that served to be a great prop for wedding portraits.
If you want to add some colour to your portrait photos, make sure to include your bridal bouquet and boutonniere in them. Outdoor weddings already serve as a natural backdrop but the lamps and vibrant furniture, in the indoor bridal portraits, were a great contrast to this wedding theme. Include your surroundings, as natural props, because rain makes everything better!
Favours and Gifts for a Romantic Rainy Day Wedding
If you are having an outdoor wedding, then you must already be aware that rain can invite plenty of wind so you as well as your guests will appreciate something warm. For a thoughtful and personal favour, give your guests a photo blanket featuring the initials of the two of you. It can make for the most perfect gift on a rainy day and can also be used as a great wedding photography prop.
Or you can serve everybody's favourite, hot cocoa, after the dessert to keep your guests warm and toasty. For a more fun time, you can also put together a DIY hot chocolate bar to entertain guests, and then they can take their mugs home.
Wedding Cake Ideas for a Romantic Rainy Day Wedding
To stay true to the vibe of your wedding, go for an all-white wedding cake. Now, you must remember that choosing an all-white cake does not limit your design options, instead, you can craft sugar flowers, delicate lace piping, or fondant details for a truly refined and tasteful look for your sweet treat!
For a minimal style, go for a two-tiered cake with a white buttercream frosting and edible petals affixed to the frosted cake for a lovely, sophisticated, and airy design. If you want to add some texture, then make an elegant statement with pearl detailing dotted all over.
Romantic rainy day wedding portraits
Raindrops didn’t stop Nataly and Aleksey from having a seriously gorgeous and romantic portrait session before their big day. With a beautiful, wedding-worthy white umbrella and one of my favorite Russian photographers, Anastasiya Belik, behind the lens – these shots are pure magic!
I just adore all of these images of these two. Such romance! And you can feel the love between them. A rainy day wedding portrait session has never looked prettier.
