Powder Blue and White Wedding
Every now and then, a wedding where style, colour and a much-loved theme ooze feelings of calm and happiness has to be showcased. This powder blue and white wedding is inspirational and beautiful, found in one stunning package!
A hydrangea bouquet, a bike filled with floral beauty, and a gorgeous swing with vines intertwined – from the sweet treats to the wedding tables and decor, powder blue is the highlight. Imagine your wedding venue in London with the same colour inspiration, and consider cobalt blue or light aquamarine as perfectly wonderful alternatives.
What to Look for in a Venue for a Powder Blue and White Wedding
Deciding on powder blue and white wedding colours essentially means sprinkling your "something blue" all over the wedding venue. The process starts with locking down a perfect wedding location, and the sweet pairing of powder blue and white pops better against the backdrop of outdoor spaces. Gardens and beach locations fit the bill.
Katerina and Andrey chose a garden venue with access to an indoor space for their big day. The stunning venue gave them access to paved footpaths and tree-shaded areas which blended perfectly with their powder blue and white theme. The different areas also served as perfect photo shoot locations.
Wedding Dresses and Accessories for a Powder Blue and White Wedding
The pastel splashes displayed around the wedding venue blend harmoniously with the white and powder blue colour palette. The softer shades of blues, pink, violets, and orange seen on the outfits also enhance the delicate nature of the theme. Lace, silk, and satin fabrics bring out the best of these hues.
Accessories equally tie the overall look together. As seen with one of the fashionable guests donning a pastel-coloured outfit, she wore a golden headpiece that leans more towards a wreath-inspired style. She further accessorized the simple yet elegant look with a gold-toned bracelet alongside a silver watch and rings.
Bridesmaid Dresses for a Powder Blue and White Wedding
We've come a long way since the days when bridesmaid's dresses were identical in style and colour. Nowadays, most brides are happy to share the spotlight with their bridal party, and a combination of powder blue and white wedding dresses presents room for a lot of creativity.
The colour palette looks stunning against the clear blue skies and the setting of an outdoor wedding. You could go with a mismatched trend with prominence given to blue, white, and blush hues. All the members of your bridal party can also wear light-blue-coloured outfits or make it unique by including a few floral patterned prints.
Groom Style For a Powder Blue and White Wedding
The groom's look perfectly captured the powder blue and white wedding theme. From the blue bowtie to the striped blue/white suit jacket down to the blue-coloured cap-toe oxfords, he looked dapper and did great justice to the wedding colours. The groomsmen’s suits would equally look great in the elegant colour or other complementary tones.
The season, wedding venue, and style of the event should equally guide the outfit selection process. The light blue hues worked for Andrey because their big day was held in the summer months at a garden location. Brightly-coloured pocket squares also pair well with this theme.
Menswear for a Powder Blue and White Wedding
The misconception about men having limited choices for formal occasions has long been dispelled. Men can equally be fashionably dapper as groomsmen or wedding guests. In the case of powder blue and white wedding colours, groomsmen in sky-blue suits complete the look. An alternative is to choose a darker shade of blue for the groomsmen.
Anything falling in the scale of soft blue and white works for this theme. Pair the look with pastel accents for summer or spring weddings. You can also go for a suit spotting a subtle pattern or one that’s fashioned out of plaid fabric.
Bouquets & Boutonnieres for a Powder Blue and White Wedding
The combination of white and blue is stunning enough for the bridal bouquet, and with minimal additions, you can truly come up with uniquely stunning pieces. Adding some green and blush ribbons, as seen on Katerina's bouquet, further complements the theme. Powder blue, white, and blush-coloured Roses are the ideal choices for wedding bouquets and boutonnieres.
Less is more, is the main take-home we get from Andrey and Katerina's big day. The floral arrangements make the colour palette pop even more without necessarily having to go over the top. Combinations of Anemones, Orchids, Iris, Lilies, Hydrangeas, Delphinium, Tulips, Daffodils, and Gardenias create the perfect centerpieces.
Wedding Invitations for a Powder Blue and White Wedding
Capture your guests' imaginations months before the big day with befitting wedding invitations. Katerina and Andrey went for a simple yet exquisite floral-themed design for the envelopes and a matching card. The brown blends well with the overall theme and at first glance, the invites give guests an idea about what's in store.
Unconventional options can also work for this theme, including wooden-curved, linen, and acrylic invites. Powder blue envelopes with bevel edges and engraved butterflies or floral prints also evoke the fairytale feel of a powder blue and white affair. Presenting the invitation of choice encased in an acrylic case or custom gift box accompanied with gorgeous flowers is yet another option.
Ceremony Decor for a Powder Blue and White Wedding
Much like Katerina and Andrey's big day, a floral arch accent decked in shades of blue creates a point of interest at the wedding ceremony venue. The typewriter prop for the couple’s photo may steal your heart because it’s a charming touch that creates another focal point. These little details collectively enhance the powder blue and white theme while also bringing out the romantic side of the occasion.
Flowers also reign for such a theme, as displayed by how the pair placed the potted plants next to the white Chiavari chairs. It would have equally been lovely if the pots were embellished with a powder blue design.
Reception Decor for a Powder Blue and White Wedding
It goes without saying that a powder blue and white theme should fully embrace nature. Flowers are naturally the go-to option when decorating a wedding reception venue, and there are also plenty of other ways to fuse the colour palette into the occasion. Bouncing off of Andrey and Katerina's big day, they had floral centerpieces as well as matching framed table numbers.
The white bird-themed candle holder is also another detail that simply makes one fall in love with how the couple used blues and whites during their big day. The bronze chandelier encasing flowers and the hanging lights are also lovely touches.
Food for a Powder Blue and White Wedding
Katerina and Andrey chose garden tea party-inspired wedding food, with a table loaded with mouthwatering baked treats drizzled with a dash of blue and white frosting. The tiered cupcake stand is yet another highlight alongside the blue floral accents displayed around the table. The bottled drinks bring balance to the mix and they fit right into the overall delicate theme.
The literal icing on the cake is when they served a three-tiered masterpiece covered in powder blue fondant. Carrying on with the theme, the cake was adorned with white and blue floral-themed toppings. The blues and whites would also translate well on the linen, tableware, menu, and centerpieces.
Powder blue and white wedding
Once in a blue moon I like to throw a real wedding into the mix here on Burnett’s Boards. Weddings like the one here today where the bride wholly embraces a colour, theme, or style in the most beautiful and inspirational way possible.
Katerina and Andrey’s powder blue and white wedding is one such example. It defines perfection and Anastasiya Belik captured its loveliness flawlessly.
Everything from the gorgeous hydrangea bouquet velvet ribbons to the portrait props like the flower-filled bike and vine-wrapped swing echoed the romance of this wedding. The refreshment table for after the ceremony was exquisite and each and every sweet treat on it played perfectly into Katerina and Andrey’s color palette. And how about that Cinderella moment when Katerina changed into her shimmering blue gown for the reception? Impeccable!
