Colour Palettes for a Summer Citrus Wedding
When it comes to choosing colours for a summer wedding, always remember that your colour palette should reflect the aesthetics and spirit of the bright, sunny season. For such colour schemes, hues inspired by sunny vibes are a great choice. To reflect the energy and mood, incorporate cheery colours like fuchsia pink, bright yellow, citrusy orange, and exhilarating light blue. Since many summer weddings take place at outdoor venues, loaded with natural beauty, neutral colours like green, mauve, and beige can be top picks for artsy and casual weddings.
However, if you are looking for a classic summer wedding, then there is nothing more elegant than a colour scheme that contains timeless tones of lilac, pale butter yellow, powder pink, navy blue, and cream. These colour schemes are especially appropriate when your wedding venue is either a garden or a rooftop terrace.
Ceremony Decor for a Summer Citrus Wedding
For a tropical summer affair, a classic citrus theme is perfect! It may be an old-fashioned theme but there are modern ways to incorporate citrus fruit into your wedding decor to make it look stylish. To make the venue look colourful and cheerful, you can start by creating a flower arch for your wedding venue entrance, adding adorable, little citrus fruits to it. You can tie olive branches and citrus fruit to the back of your stark white chairs and line up your aisle with tall, white candles and funky citrus.
Craft some fruity chandeliers with oranges and lush green leaves to spruce up your summer wedding decor, and line up your wedding dance floor with small mason jars filled with fresh white daisies and juicy citrus choices!
Table Setting Style for a Summer Citrus Wedding
Your wedding table can be made extra gorgeous with the addition of citrus here and there. First of all, you would need some stunning centrepieces, preferably in contrasting colours like those used in this board: bottle green and transparent. For the dining table, use a lighter colour spread; baby blue, for example, and keep it minimalistic yet colourful by placing a big, striking flower bouquet in the middle. Use plain white crockery and add a citrus fruit next to each plate!
A cake table should always be eye-catching to the guests and get well-deserved attention. Spread out a butter yellow tablescape on your cake table and get your hands on transparent glass vases of different shapes and sizes to fill them with fresh, yellow primrose.
Wedding Cake Ideas for a Summer Citrus Wedding
When life gives you lemons, use them to spruce up your wedding cake! Limes, alongside citrus, are a beautiful addition to your wedding cake. Red blood oranges, grapefruits, and even kumquats can be added to make your sweet treat colourful, tasty, and vibrant. If you love these juicy and tangy fresh produces then why not make a splash by bringing citrus to your wedding cake?
Go for a lovely classic white cake and decorate it with pastel pink flowers and orange borders, sitting atop separate tiers, to get the guests to talk a storm about how stylish and flavourful your wedding cake was! If you wish to add a bit more colour, as shown in this board, you can also choose a powder blue fondant for the bottom tier of the cake!
Wedding Invitations for a Summer Citrus Wedding
Whenever you think about citrus weddings the first thing that comes to your mind is bright splashes of colour and bold details, and this is exactly what this bride opted for in her wedding invitations. These minimalistic hand-crafted wedding invitations are a dazzling blend of spunky orange, lush green, and fuchsia pink with a plain white base infused with bold geometric patterns.
Vibrant and vivid wedding invitations are always a perfect option for tropical weddings. And to make them look even more appealing, choose to incorporate watercolours on the front and craft a small paper pocket, inside your wedding invite, to add a citrus candy for your beloved guests!
Food for a Summer Citrus Wedding

INSPIRATION SHOOT
Summer is almost here and there is no better way to kick off wedding season than with a playful and colourful citrus themed inspiration shoot from Ling Wang Photography. Conceptualized and brought to life by Ashley on Two Be Wed, this Houston, Texas editorial feels like a ray of sunshine!
Colour was the anchor for our design and we paired it with a clean and minimal yet bold and refreshing take on summer. Little pops of citrus detail in the floral designs and invitation suit gave it that extra elemental ‘zing’ to stand on its own. We surprised ourselves with touches of geometric elements – colourful patterns woven into the invitation suite, white lattice chargers and overlapping chairs in stark white. Our bride was playful and fresh in the sequin studded Gemma gown from BHLDN and bold statement pieces from local jewelry designer, Kendra Scott.”
