Best Pet Photographers in Honolulu, HI

Pet portraits are all about celebrating your fur babies, whether they are taking place on location at their favorite beach or with professional lighting and backdrops at a photography studio. It’s an opportunity to showcase their unique personalities, as well as create personal mementos that you will cherish long after their short lives are over.

If you and your pet are lucky enough to live in Hawaii, then you have plenty of paradisiacal settings on your doorstep, as well as studio options to consider. The following pet photographers cover both bases so you can choose the one that’s right for you.

Hawaii Pet Portraits

Ashley Smith is the owner and lead photographer of Hawaii Pet Portraits, which was created after she adopted a pup named “Blake” in 2016. On his first birthday, she planned a cake smash session with some of his pup pals and the idea for Hawaii Pet Portraits was born.

Ashley has around 10 years of professional experience shooting engagement sessions, wedding and family portraits, as well as being hired for commercial work in and around Honolulu.

In addition to solo pet portraits, she also offers “Pets and their People” sessions using professional studio backgrounds and lighting. Whether you’re after a fashion-inspired shoot with your pup or something more lighthearted, Hawaii Pet Portraits can make it happen with stunning results.

Keri Nakahashi Photography

Keri Nakahashi is one of the most experienced Honolulu pet photographers on our list, having been working with dogs since 2008 and photographing them since 2014. She was inspired to start her business after seeing sweeping shots of Hawaii beaches in a local art gallery and thinking that they would all be better if there was a dog featured in them.

While Keri wanted professional portraits of her dog, Kobe, on the beach, she knew that he would be too scared in such an unfamiliar situation. The only solution was to become the photographer, which is exactly what she did.

Today, Keri has experience photographing a wide range of breeds, with all types of temperaments and levels of training. All of her sessions are customized to your pooch and include plenty of “toys, treats, and fun.”

Chipperton Photography

After working as an animal trainer in Los Angeles for more than 20 years, Sue Chipperton made the move to Hawaii to establish her own business. She has always been passionate about photography and has insider knowledge when it comes to understanding how to get the best out of your pet and make them feel as comfortable as possible.

Sue’s pet portraits are classically styled and take advantage of Hawaii’s breathtaking natural settings, including beaches, mountains and lava flows. Aside from photographing dogs and pets, she also does occasional shoots with cats and even pigs. We particularly love her images of surf dogs competing in local competitions!

Ocean Soul Photography

Ocean Soul Photography is the brainchild of Mary Eileen, who describes herself as not only a photographer but an ocean enthusiast and an activist. She lives just a short bike ride from Waikiki Beach and believes there is “no problem that can't be solved by stuffing yourself through a wave.”

Mary Eileen’s photographic style mimics her life - vivid, authentic and passionate. She primarily works as a family photographer but that also extends to fur babies, with many of her images incorporating dogs walking on the beach or relaxing at home. Rather than creating images that are a “cookie-cutter” version of an ideal family, she wants to capture the bold and beautiful authenticity that is yours.
