Radiant Orchid Wedding

Radiant orchid is a colour that’s perfectly comfortable on the wedding scene! You’ll see here that everything from shoes to flowers make a gorgeous statement with this stunning hue. Grab inspiration and see where it fits into your big day.

What to Look for in a Venue for a Radiant Orchid Wedding

An enigmatic colour like a radiant orchid requires an equally awe-inspiring venue. Colours that are bright, vivid, and bold, like the pinkish-purple orchid, go extremely well in natural and outdoor surroundings. Since the colour screams elegance and luxury, you could consider venues with built-in water features, like fountains, a small lake, or a poolside chalet.

Other options would be a Chinese garden-style wedding ceremony, a sit-down outdoor reception, a tea garden, ceremony under an old tree, or a regal, vintage house in the country. Since the colour is associated with royalty, an old castle wedding venue would also be highly opulent.

Colour Palettes for a Radiant Orchid Wedding

Radiant orchid itself is such a gorgeous pink-purple combination that most people are stunned by its elegance and beauty. When considering such a bold, vibrant wedding colour for the ceremony and reception, couples must consider muted palettes to compliment it. Some ideal colour palettes with radiant orchids would be blush pink, pale purple, a hint of powder blue, white, and greens.

Radiant orchid will also go beautifully with white, gold, cream, Grecian blue, and sea green. These colours need to look synchronous throughout the entire wedding and reception. Ideally, not everything should be a radiant orchid. Everything else should be in muted colours, and the only bright pop of colour should be the glamorous orchid.

Details for a Radiant Orchid Wedding

Radiant orchid is a great pinkish purple colour that tends to pop immediately. Considering the wedding details for a brilliant orchid wedding, brides and grooms would have to show plenty of restraint. It is pretty easy to get carried away with a colour as intense as radiant orchid.

When planning minor and significant details, it is necessary to consider the surrounding palettes and ensure that there is no unnecessary clash between colours. A serene, relaxed, or muted venue will help bring the wedding together without making the ceremony or reception look gaudy. Other props, small enhancements, and props tastefully added to the décor will also help bring the radiant orchid colour to the front.

Food for a Radiant Orchid Wedding

The colour orchid for wedding food equates to pink with berries! When sourcing the food and coordinating the wedding menu, it is essential that everything is seasonal. All the food need not be pink and purple in colour but can be shades of lavender, berry, pomegranate, and blush.

When planning the menu, you could think of purple margaritas for drinks, rose wine, fresh berries on a grazing table with cheeses, and so on. The main menu selection can be as per your choice of veggies, meats, and surf and turf. However, you could think of some royal orchid-coloured desserts like mini cupcakes with purple frosting, pink strawberry flavored macarons, apple-glazed pie, melon candies, etc.

Table Setting Style for a Radiant Orchid Wedding

There is much room for mix and match in a table setting style for a radiant orchid wedding. Depending on the overall décor, a Grecian table setting with orchid blooms as the runner across the table, muted table linens, gorgeous blue, and white porcelain dishes, vintage wine glasses in gold and silver, and candles in gold votives will look heavenly.

Another fabulous table setting style is to keep the table linens white while having a statement centrepiece of orchid blooms and white roses with greenery dominating the area. Adding orchid-coloured ombre glasses for water, crystal flutes for champagne, white porcelain for the dishes, and soft pink touches through the serviettes will make the table setting pretty yet chic.

Budget for a Radiant Orchid Wedding

When considering the wedding budget, there are a few things you should watch out for in advance. Since the wedding colour is a royal orchid, you should have the other colour palettes in place beforehand. It is effortless to overspend for a wedding. You might want to get everything from black cushion covers, pink settees, wicker chairs, green hanging lanterns, motifs on the wall, and a 10-course wedding buffet.

Having a set colour palette helps curb expenses and avoid unnecessary shopping and expensive purchases. Some of the most significant overheads are the wedding venue, decorator (furniture rentals), caterer, wedding cake, photographer, and videographer.

Wedding Dresses and Accessories for a Radiant Orchid Wedding

Trendy brides can opt for a radiant orchid gown with flowing sleeves and a plunging neckline. However, if you still want to opt for a white wedding gown, you can still pair royal orchid with it. When considering wedding dresses, the primary aim must always be your comfort. You will be in the dress the entire day, and it needs to have room for ample movement. A sleeveless wedding dress in white or icy blue with lace, tulle, empire waist, and gorgeous torso detailing with flowy chiffon skirts will look stunning.

You can incorporate the orchid colour in your wedding day ensemble with radiant orchid nail polish or lipstick. You could also consider an orchid coverup to contrast the wedding gown. Another great way to accessorise is to add orchids to your hair and purple earrings.

Wedding Invitations for a Radiant Orchid Wedding

The wedding invitations can be on vintage paper or completely paperless (evites). Digital prints are all the rage currently, and the radiant colour of the purple pink will look gorgeous on an invite. Adding pink and purple blooms to the invitation or save-the-date and RSVP cards will help set the tone for the wedding.

A pale dusky gold-coloured invite with black lettering and purple orchids will help guests understand the wedding colour scheme. The invitation could also outline a wedding arch in royal orchids with the script in a gold or black vintage font to give an air of elegance.

Wedding Cake Ideas for a Radiant Orchid Wedding

There are several fabulous wedding cake ideas for a colour like radiant orchid. The entire cake need not be pink and purple. Instead, an ombre multi-tiered cake with orchid colour at the base that gently flows up to pale pink will add elegance and class to the wedding theme and look exquisite in photographs.

Another beautiful wedding cake is full white frosting with purple orchid sugar flowers placed artistically throughout the cake (either as a vine or one dispersed on each layer). If you enjoy artisanal wedding cakes, then you could request a hand-painted cake with orchids, greenery, and a design with white, blush, and small pink flowers.

Favours and Gifts for a Radiant Orchid Wedding

Wedding favours should be mementos for your guests. They are a way to thank your guests for attending your special day. Since the wedding theme is radiant orchid, you should ensure that the wedding colours are reflected in your thoughtful gifts. Things like a gauzy purple drawstring bag with a thank you note in your invitations font, pink scented candles, and a packet of personalised mints with your wedding date.

Some other ideas would be a packet of orchid seeds to plant, beautiful orchid scented potpourri packets with ribbons tied to it, and a pack of Hershey's kisses in purple will also be great for guests.

It’s official! Pantone’s new color of the year for 2014 is Radiant Orchid. I’ve got to admit that I’m thrilled that we’re going to be seeing this gorgeous pinkish purple everywhere now. It’s such an easy color for most skin tones to wear and its femininity makes it absolutely perfect for a wedding palette.

Radiant Orchid is a pretty, warm, energetic hue and a really sharp contrast to last year’s emerald. The vibrancy of Radiant Orchid is going to make its way into weddings everywhere from the color of a bride’s nail polish and lipstick to the floral design and everything in-between.

Because Radiant Orchid is a nuanced color it will change slightly depending on what it is paired with. For this wedding inspiration board I wanted to pull some of the pinks out of it and balance its warmth with a cool powder blue. Plus, a touch of gold is never amiss at a wedding and yes – those are glitter unicorn escort cards!
