It’s no secret that the Pacific Northwest is home to some of the most majestic scenery in the United States. Breathtaking coastlines, lush forests, and gushing waterfalls lie around every corner, offering plenty of inspiration for landscape photographers.
As a result, Tacoma is home to some of the best in the business, who have made documenting natural scenes their mission. In this article, we’ll introduce a few of the landscape photographers in Tacoma whose work we love.
501 Exposures Photography
Bryan is the man behind the camera at 501 Exposures Photography, which specializes in not only wildlife, nature, and landscape photography but also real estate imagery and portraiture. He believes that photos “give us the opportunity to capture a single moment in time and bring it to life over and over again”.
Originally from Graham, Bryan now calls Tacoma “home” and loves living somewhere that offers plenty of opportunities to immerse himself in the wilderness. Even when he’s not capturing images for clients, Bryan likes to spend his time out exploring mountain trails or deep in the forest finding inspiration.

Aaron Pedersen is a Tacoma real estate photographer and videographer who has been working in the industry for more than a decade. Many of his images incorporate the landscapes surrounding the property, which are an integral part of their selling point.
Aaron works with clients from Olympia to Federal Way, Puyallup to Gigi Harbor, and has garnered a reputation for his high-quality HDR photos taken using an ultra-wide angle lens. In addition to real estate imagery from the ground level, he is also an FAA-certified drone pilot and captures stunning landscape shots from above.
E B Peterson Photography
Eric Peterson is a talented landscape photographer who works throughout Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Puyallup, and beyond. He specializes in wedding, architectural and outdoor portraits, in addition to taking impressive shots of our natural world.
Eric combines film and digital techniques in his approach to photography, coupled with highly tuned exposure techniques that result in a realistic look. His imagery ranges from fall colors to macro shots of spider webs and yacht-filled harbors. His architectural photography is equally captivating, whether he’s working in daylight or at dusk.
Chris McKenna Photography
Chris McKenna is on a mission to provide “affordable photography for everyone” and has been shooting since he purchased his first SLR camera in the early 1980s. He has a certificate in professional photography from the New York Institute of Photography and is a current member of the Pierce County Professional Photographers Association and Wedding and Portrait Photographers International.
In the last year, Chris passed his FAA Part 107 exam and is now a certified drone pilot who can add aerial landscape imagery to his list of services. Chris is assisted in his business by Lynette, who takes a photojournalistic approach to her work.
Jim Patterson Photography
Jim Patterson has been an avid photographer for more than 25 years and is currently based in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. He says that his passion for photographing the natural world began underneath the water’s surface while studying marine biology and eventually shifted to documenting coastal landscapes.
Over time, he expanded his landscape photography interest inland and he now strives to capture images that are both visually impressive and personally meaningful. In addition to selling his photographic works, Jim also offers nature and landscape photography workshops across the United States. They are designed for photographers of all experience levels who want to access the best natural locations at the right time.
