Meet Hannah Powell. Currently the Functions Coordinator at Aerial UTS Function Centre, Hannah started out as a chef, and after various hospitality positions settled in an events role. She loves mountains, hiking and camping and her hot party trick is fire spinning! Give us a snap shot of your career to date.
Starting out as a chef, I have moved around the hospitality industry, through a multitude of roles in hotels, cafes and restaurants, finally settling in events. I have been at Aerial for the last 3.5 years.

The most memorable event you have worked on and why?
A rockabilly cocktail Christmas party – it was a no expense spared party, with a hair & makeup salon, circus entertainment, big band. So much fun.
What did you ‘learn the hard way’ when planning an event?
You can’t please everybody

Patience

If you could share one piece of advice to those starting out in the industry what would it be?
Volunteer at local events in your city – you learn so much!

Usually a big pasta dish along with antipasto & cheese

Either champagne or whisky
