Event Showcase | Ignite 2019

While Sydney lit up with the lights of Vivid 2019, Luna Park Venues and Funktionality Events and Experiences teamed up to host an epic event showcase for 250 corporate event buyers.

The event was billed as an event and entertainment extravaganza to inspire clients with new event ideas for their own projects. Let’s take a closer look so you too can be inspired…

The Venue

Luna Park Sydney is a fun and vibrant venue – a great place for entertaining. This event took place in both the Palais and Crystal Ballroom – the latter, a larger space, was split by drapery to make two separate areas.

The evening started in Palais, which has stunning 180-degree views of Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House and city skyline from both inside and outside on the balcony.

On arrival, guests were given different neon coloured wristbands – a subtle way of dividing the large group. Following drinks and some canapes, an announcement was made for guests to follow a designated “Glo Bot” (who was glowing in the matching colour of their wristband) to the next event space (Crystal Ballroom). It also gave guests a great view of this Vivid Precinct as they walked past the Ferris wheel and other rides running at full speed.

An event that moves guests through different spaces can be a hard thing to pull off, but it wasn’t an issue here with clear instructions and plenty of staff ready to take glasses and drinks on the way out and offer replacements on the way into the new venue. It was seamless and fun.

The gorgeous Crystal Ballroom was used to showcase the main entertainment of the evening, and when the canape service was complete, the drape line was removed to reveal the secret dessert station – more on that below…

Following the formalities of the event, the wristbands gave guests access to go on the rides at their leisure.

The Catering

The in-house catering team at Luna Park Venues have won numerous catering awards – and it’s easy to see why. On the night, the chefs put together a creative menu to ignite the senses, including savoury doughnuts, mini black sesame cones with raw salmon and Vivid inspired drinks.

Our personal favourites included the smoked chicken, apricot and citrus meringue tartlet and beetroot risotto with feta and mint.

However, it was the dessert station that was a highlight! With a garden of delicious sweet goodness, including salted coconut marshmallow and a range of glowing mini glazed cakes, it was both worthy of Instagram AND our bellies.

The Entertainment

IGNITE 2019 was billed as an “event and entertainment extravaganza” and it delivered with no spare moments to be bored. Our favourite has to be the RnB band who got everyone grooving to their 90’s ballads and we were impressed by their breakdancing. There were also DJs, a huge range of roving entertainment, glow in the dark putt putt and a speed painter on show to get people talking.

Funktionality pulled out all the stops to showcase their range of entertainment options and their neon-inspired styling of the venue helped to create a cohesive experience.
