Wedding Dresses and Accessories for a Kate Spade Wedding
Designer Kate Spade is known for her fun, flirty use of color and pattern, and your wedding dress and accessories can reflect that style without being over the top – unless you want to be over the top! Play with your style by choosing fashionable but unexpected elements such as Amy’s asymmetrical hemline and striped fabric, or colorful accents.
If you’d like a traditional gown but love to accessorize, consider trying some of Spade’s signature wedding sneakers – you’ll be stylish and comfortable walking down the aisle. You can also consider a piece of statement jewelry like Amy’s bold, geometric earrings that brush the shoulders or a collar necklace to set off a simple strapless dress. A sparkling or bright belt will not only accentuate your waist, it can add an eye-catching pop of color.
Bridesmaid Dresses for a Kate Spade Wedding
One of the best ways to showcase your wedding colors is your bridesmaid dresses. Whether you choose a single color for everyone or have a couple of different shades that flatter everyone’s skin tones, your bridesmaid dresses are a great opportunity to make a bold color statement.
Vibrant colors such as magenta, red, teal and yellow are perfect for summertime weddings, while Spade’s more understated light pinks, navy and black designs are classic for any occasion. Patterns such as polka dots or stripes is a great way to add interest and fun to an otherwise simple dress. Pair bold colors and patterns for a striking look, or add fun accent pieces, such as glittery shoes or bright hair accessories to pastel or understated dresses.
Groom Style for a Kate Spade Wedding
While wedding fashion tends to focus more on the brides and bridesmaids, a wedding featuring Kate Spade’s sophisticated but fun style gives the men a chance to have a little fun with their attire. A tuxedo may still be the go-to attire for the groom, but there are endless options for adding a little color, pattern, style and fun.
An easy, budget-friendly way to add a few hints of Kate Spade’s signature style to the groom’s wardrobe is focusing on accessory pieces. Pops of color and wedding party patterns can be added to break up the black and white. Even footwear is great for adding a colorful surprise. Chase paired traditional black shoes with color-coordinated socks to add an unexpected twist to wedding photos. If the groom plans to wear sneakers down the aisle, add a pop of color with bright laces or vinyl decals.
Wedding Cake Ideas for a Kate Spade Wedding
Bright colors, patterns and flowers equal endless options for a stunning wedding cake with both sophistication and fun. Consider mixing traditional and quirky with a signature white cake – decked out with colorful accents, of course! Fondant and icing colors can be matched to fabric swatches for a perfectly coordinated ensemble, or you can go with a bold complimentary color designed to stand out.
As part of their urban rooftop theme inspired by Kate Spade, Amy chose to go with a neutral cake with sparkling gold accents. Cakes are also a beautiful way to incorporate brightly-colored fresh fruits and flowers – choose a simple, budget-friendly cake and dress it up with coordinating roses, peonies, carnations or dahlias.
Food for a Kate Spade Wedding
Whether you plan to serve a full meal, offer appetizers or stick with a dessert-only spread, the food for a Kate Spade-inspired wedding should be as eye-catching as the flowers and décor. Small plates adorned with edible flowers or a show-stopping main course all add to the overall classy-yet-quirky theme.
Amy and Chase chose a flavorful Mexican dish with a spicy kick, and vegetarian and vegan choices are often fresh and colorful. And while the wedding cake will be the star of the dessert table, there are endless options for adding other tasty fun, such as brightly-frosted cupcakes or cookies, a variety of candies, or even ice cream with a selection of toppings.
Table Setting Style for a Kate Spade Wedding
Table settings are a great way to connect your wedding reception with the ceremony, especially if they are being held in two different locations. They are also a great way to add some elegant accents with the tableware and linens, and they’re budget-friendly, since you can incorporate more of your colorful flowers instead of designing elaborate centerpieces.
Amy chose to incorporate more gold accents into her table settings to complete the modern, luxurious atmosphere of her rooftop wedding. She made a bold statement with a gold sequined tablecloth while choosing more understated china and glassware. A fun polka-dot napkin tied into a bow brings in a bit of fun, keeping the look light and entertaining.
Bouquets and Boutonnieres for a Kate Spade Wedding
Wedding bouquets for both the bride and her bridesmaids are the perfect chance to combine two of the things designer Kate Spade is known for – color and flowers. There are many options to choose from, depending on your chosen accent colors and the season of your wedding. Roses come in a variety of bright, saturated hues like magenta, red, yellow and even orange, while gerbera daisies, dahlias, carnations and others offer a more budget-friendly approach with the same stunning impact.
Since Amy and Chase had a summertime wedding, they were able to choose a combination of roses, chrysanthemums and camelias accented with dark berries and a splash of green. Winter wedding bouquets can be just as beautiful, however, with roses available year-round and winter favorites like amaryllis lilies, ranunculas, and tulips available to bring sunny color and fragrance.
What to Look For in a Venue for a Kate Spade Wedding
Kate Spade’s clothing and accessories have an urban chic feel to them, so any venue that captures the energy of the city paired with a moderately plain background is a perfect canvas. With a plain background, you can achieve any look you want, incorporating lush florals, fabrics and unique design elements for a look that is modern yet romantic.
Indoor wedding venues are available year-round, and have the added bonus of being kinder to your budget if you choose one that is not traditionally used as a wedding space. Amy and Chase’s rooftop wedding venue provides a neutral canvas for the colorful accents and modern aesthetic of the bride and groom. It captures the modern, urban feel of the city while being a quiet retreat from the noise below.
Reception Decor for a Kate Spade Wedding
If the wedding ceremony is all about class and elegance, the reception is about celebrating and having a great time. Your wedding reception décor is limited only by your imagination, because Kate Spade-inspired designs can feature any type of color, pattern, flower or design you can think of. Consider choosing understated colors paired with sleek, modern accessories in a metallic finish, or go bold with rich colors and romantic, whimsical accents.
The bold color scheme was a fantastic choice for Amy and Chase, who chose bright pinks and yellows set off by black and white with glittering gold accents. This design can work with any set of wedding colors and theme you choose. It’s especially perfect for weddings featuring lots of floral decorations, large spaces and bold photo props.
Budget for a Kate Spade Wedding
While designer fashion and accessories often come with a hefty price tag, a Kate Spade-inspired wedding and reception doesn’t have to be hard on your pocketbook. By unifying bright wedding colors with black, white or neutral accents, you’ll be able to save money by splurging on only a few important items.
With a larger budget, you can go all out on a gorgeous designer wedding gown like Amy’s show-stopping Hayley Paige number. If you want to splurge on the dress of your dreams, you can get creative in other areas of planning, such as choosing less expensive but still bold flowers and putting your DIY skills to good use on items like invitations, party favors, or even table centerpieces.
Colorful and fun kate spade wedding
A black tie wedding gets wrapped up in color and fun today with Kate Spade-inspired style! Houston’s Two Be Wed crafted this gorgeous inspiration shoot shot by Christa Elyce and it’s bursting at the seams with youthful and chic details. It’s pretty amazing what these ladies accomplished: rooftop elegance + a quirky color-loving’ brand = adores!
Form To Be Wed – “There’s a fine balance between gorgeous and playful, sweet and sophisticated, and classic and contemporary elements throughout this wedding inspiration shoot. There’s a lot of texture and movement on the table, but it also feels clean, simplified, and not overwhelming.
Our groom was the perfect depiction of simple sophistication with thick-framed glasses, a fitted black tux, a polka dot pocket square and pink socks (why hello there Clark Kent!). The bride wore a stunning gown called Keaton from Hayley Paige. Notice the stripes in her dress and her bold, geometric honeycomb earrings. Her shoes were from Kate Spade – who else!?”
“The floral designs are traditional in style (round and full) but the bright white lacquered urn with colorful blooms make it fun and modern. The stationary provided the perfect opportunity for bits of turquoise as well as bold graphics and a variety of typography and textures. The whole event reads ‘black tie’ without being stuffy!”
