This venue was even better than I had imagined, and it is actually more spacious than it looks online. We hosted a memorial gathering for my brother that was attended by mostly 40-50 year old New Yorkers. I think they found it classy and interesting. The place was well maintained and Lola was excellent at responding quickly and communicating clearly. A small note: although the bar chairs appear orange in the picture they are actually more of a camel color and leather. Nice surprise.

This space was perfect for our engagement party! It was spacious, classy, and the check in and check out process was very smooth. Loliya was extremely helpful throughout the entire process — quickly answering all of my questions. The bartender we added on was also a great addition — they were prompt and made great drinks. I would certainly recommend this space to others.

About Brooklyn

Brooklyn is home to an estimated 2.6 million people, and if it stood independently as a city, it would be the fourth largest in the nation. Brooklyn is actually one of the administrative divisions of New York City and the most populous borough in the state. While it is part of NYC, Brooklyn is physically situated on Long Island.

Like most other NYC boroughs, Brooklyn is a noted cultural melting point and 40% of the residents are foreign-born. Thanks to the diversity, the city developed a "cool and hip" edge. Even iconic landmarks like the Brooklyn Bridge are fascinating, and interestingly, it rises about three inches up due to cable contractions and expansions in extremely cold weather.

Brooklyn is warm for almost half of the year while the rest of the time it experiences mild to cold weather. You are best covered planning an indoor event in the borough but selections of outdoor performance spaces in Brooklyn are also worth exploring

Performance Space Options in Brooklyn

Every visual artist frequently needs to showcase their work at a suitable location. Once you've booked a Brooklyn performance space, the real work starts. Fortunately, there are lists of professional vendors within the borough who can help transform your vision to life.

  • Invitations
Any type of performance is staged for an audience. Invitation cards are a wonderful touch to include in your showcase; whether it's a recital, artistic presentation, or a play. The scale of the event also doesn't matter, and even if it's only friends and family attending, they'll appreciate receiving formal invitations to your gig. Online invitations are equally effective, but nothing beats the good-old card invites.

  • Marketing
Regardless of the nature of your event, you need to get the word out there about the performance. It's especially important if the admission relies on ticket sales, and these days the internet gets half the work done. The online environment serves as an effective marketing tool, but you'll still need printed fliers to post around town just to diversify your advertising efforts. For a cultural function that brings together local residents or other large-scale events; it's wise to work with a Brooklyn marketing agency.

  • Costumes and Props
Performances vary in nature and some, like theatrical plays, require the use of costumes and props to drive the narrative along. The selections of props and costumes stores in Brooklyn should have you covered.

  • Audio/Visual Specialist
The need for audio/visual (A/V) equipment cuts across different types of visual art performances. A play might require lavaliers for each actor so that their dialogues are amplified and the acoustics travel well across the venue. Work with an A/V specialist to get everything right in your Brooklyn performance space.

  • Catering
Before the main performance, in-between, or after, you can serve the audience snacks and refreshments. It helps to include the costs in the ticket price or alternatively offers food for sale. Plenty of caterers in Brooklyn will be happy to collaborate in this regard.

Performance Event Companies in Brooklyn

Every performance is unique but the one aspect that cuts across all of these events is the need to entertain an audience. It's better to put more time into perfecting your art instead of worrying about the intricacies of putting together the performance. A collaboration with an event company in Brooklyn can sort this out.

  • Thirty4thStreet
The mission to bring people together is what drives Thirty4thStreet. They have a great track record of helping their clients produce successful and unforgettable events. Their specialization is weddings but they can also organize an array of occasions and even incorporate live streaming technology in order to connect people.

  • Small Shindigs
Small shindigs cater to the client who has something worth bringing folks together but without necessarily going all out. They excel in planning occasions with a small number of invited guests, and in turn, their efforts are entirely centered on the client's needs. Weddings are their specialty but they can make magic happen for any type of intimate gathering.

  • Bergen Audio Visual
No matter the occasion or type of performance, Bergen Audio Visual can give you a hand. They’ve got the equipment you need to rent and can also take care of delivery, set up, and operation if you prefer a hands-off approach. Live streaming and video conferencing are available also.

Pros and Cons of Performance Spaces in Brooklyn

Brooklyn is a welcoming borough that embraces just about every quirk but much like anywhere else, it’s not free from shortcomings. That's important to know precisely what you are signing up for when booking a performance space in Brooklyn for your upcoming event.

Advantages

  • It's a cool and oddly weird borough
Brooklyn is where you'll stumble into unique artisanal finds with stores entirely dedicated to an array of niche products. For instance, if for some reason your performance requires feathered gloves, then you are in luck because a particular store exclusively sells these items.

  • Everyone is welcome
Brooklyn and the greater NYC boroughs are well-known for their inclusivity and welcoming nature. It's a zero-judgment zone that promotes the thrill of testing your limits and hence the reason why you should book a Brooklyn performance space for your upcoming staging.

  • You can get around without a fuss
Getting around Brooklyn isn't what you would describe as a breeze, but the subway system connects to just about every corner of the borough and surrounding regions. There are about 170 subway stations operating within Brooklyn alone.

  • There's plenty to keep you captivated
You'll never lack something to do in Brooklyn, whether you are settling in the borough or just passing by. They call NYC the Big Apple for a reason, and likewise, experiences in Brooklyn fall on the grander side.

  • It's family-centric
Brooklyn is highlighted as one of the great places to start a family. With that in mind, it's an equally suitable location to host a family-centric performance event.

Disadvantages

  • The commute can become a challenge
While Brooklyn is well-connected via the subway system, when traveling to Manhattan or other nearby areas it takes at least an hour each way. That's why it's best to have crucial people helping with the performance nearby and work with local vendors to avoid delays.

  • Parking is an issue
Driving can also get you around Brooklyn, only that you'll have trouble locating a parking space. While taxi services are an alternative, you want to make appropriate and reliable transport arrangements for essential aspects related to your event.

  • Brooklyn is a costly place
You wouldn't exactly describe Brooklyn as affordable and in fact, it's right on Manhattan's tail when comparing the cost of living. Budget to spend significantly more in this borough.

  • Rent is expensive
The cost of housing in Brooklyn is more expensive than in other similar places. It's the same case for hotel accommodation and as an out-of-towner, you should be well-prepared for these costs.

  • NYC isn't the cleanest city
NYC has a reputation for not being the cleanest city in the nation and Brooklyn somehow follows suit. Be mindful of the Brooklyn performance space you choose to avoid a location near streets that are littered with trash.

Famous Locations in Brooklyn

  • Brooklyn Bridge
The Brooklyn Bridge once stood as the largest suspension bridge when it opened in 1883. It remains an iconic NYC landmark and over 100,000 vehicles drive through the Gothic towers each day. The upper walkways also host thousands of pedestrians each day. Regardless of the way you get across the bridge; it offers spectacular views of Brooklyn Heights and lower Manhattan.

  • Brooklyn Museum
The Brooklyn Museum famously made history as the first American institution to display African objects as exhibits. It houses over 4,000 Egyptian holdings and there's even an entire center dedicated to feminist art. The museum most notably serves as the permanent residence for The Dinner Party installation by Judy Chicago. Book a unique art-deco gallery performance space with 17-foot-high ceilings near the Brooklyn Museum for your upcoming event in Brooklyn.

  • Brooklyn Botanic Garden
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden suits a myriad of events including outdoor performances. The manicured lawns and trees with blooming flowers provide the perfect backdrop for an artistic display. It's also in close proximity to other attractions like Prospect Park and The Brooklyn Museum.
