About the Space
My garden gets compliments year-round, and it’s finally maturing enough that it’s becoming more picturesque. The house is from 1925 and has a European undertone, which I tried to tie into the yard through iron work from the late 1800s, antique planters, weeping trees, natives, vegetables, and even some tropicals to give it a somewhat Mediterranean vibe. I was particularly inspired by the movie, “Call Me By Your Name,” which features fruit trees, and White Lotus, which incorporates tropicals. Each season brings in a new element as the plants change colors and new blooms emerge or disappear. I don’t heavily manicure it or use chemicals, and instead let the plants layer themselves, grow naturally, spill and climb - I think this creates a romantic place. I don’t travel very much anymore so wanted to bring “somewhere else” to my yard in Arlington. The house is located near Restaurant Row in National Landing.
