Started by a former mail courier and beekeeper, the space is housed within multiple bays of a former industrial garage. The brewing, bottling, and production efforts occupy one area while the Tasting Room, events and community engagement hub, and outdoor picnic area round out the space. The venue specializes in fermented drinks including gruit, kombucha, mead, jun, and cider and is distinct in its use of local, seasonal, foraged, and harvested ingredients including natural sugars. This core element and dedication to the arts, music, workshops and the local culture is evident. Our parking lot and active loading dock area are lined with shipping containers that boast the work of local street artists that can also be found within our production space. Conversely, our wide L-shaped entry space and hallway have white-washed brick walls, a cozy seating area, and wood picnic tables that sit below hanging botanical drying racks and dried yarrow and mugwort. Our private lounge space has deep teal walls, a reading nook, vintage furniture and mirrors, and a large graffiti wall. Larger events including DJ and musical performances occur in our expanded Tasting Room, which is open daily to the public. A handmade, wooden bar spans the length of one side of the room with a board showcasing 24 of our specialty drinks against custom-designed honeycomb wallpaper. Elsewhere bee box frames serve as functional decor, a nod to the owner's start as a beekeeper. The interior of the venue is both strong and soft. Deep black walls, exposed industrial ceilings, and garage doors are offset by the bohemian decor and an emphasis on foraging and wild harvesting. The venue also has an outdoor seating area in front of its building with fire pits set into the sand, surrounded by handcrafted benches, raised garden beds, and hanging nasturtium and morning glory vines. Picnic tables and barrels fill out the area as well as a handful of parking spaces.
