Venue located in a residential area in the heart of Shacklewell (North Hackney). It's found on a small road just off Shacklewell Lane, making it quiet throughout the day. Just a few minutes from the popular Shacklewell Arms pub/venue, and a short walk from Kingsland Road. The site has two buildings: the church and the mission hall. The church is a unique piece of neo-byzantine architecture, with bare concrete floors and walls; a functioning sanctuary with a high altar, choir stalls, and an organ loft; and a brilliant rood screen separating the nave from the sanctuary. Behind the sanctuary is the Lady Chapel, and off to the side is the vestry, which is ideal for storage, hair and makeup, or as a break-out space. Please note that the church building currently does not have functioning electrics (other than lighting) - we would encourage you to hire a generator if necessary. The mission hall building is primarily comprised of the lower and upper halls. The lower hall is a big and functional church hall, with working electrics, storage space, tall windows, and immediate access to the kitchen. The upper hall has more character, including raised staging, church-style windows, and a high arched wooden ceiling. Both spaces are highly functional, have plenty of floor space, and are flexible in terms of use. The mission hall also has a working kitchen and a mezzanine space, which can be used for smaller meetings or break-out groups. The site is highly functional, but also stunning. It is sure to impress, and would be ideal as a unique photography location, performance space, or community hub.
