The yellow door home
Our home is on a street with a real neighborhood feel, where children are riding bikes and people are walking their dogs. Every Friday evening, a few moms cone off a part of the street to allow kids to ride their bikes and scooters safely while the grown-ups catch up over a glass of wine. This can be any town, USA!
A cheerful yellow door leads you into a newly renovated 4 bedroom/ 3 bath home, in the modern farmhouse style. It features an airy, bright, open floor plan with a gourmet kitchen containing two farmhouse sinks and a walk in pantry. The large center walnut island underneath skylights is the heart of this home, perfect for doing homework and entertaining guests alike and is a perfect gathering place. Your eyes are drawn to the focal point of the kitchen, a tall hood over the Wolf range, its chimney reaching a 14 ft tall vaulted ceiling that has the rich color and grain of walnut.
The master suite also has a vaulted ceiling and a spa-like bathroom with a gorgeous clawfoot bath tub highlighted by a crystal chandelier above it. On the other end of the house is a bedroom corridor, giving privacy to three bedrooms and one bath. Three expansive sliding doors (from dining room, master bedroom, and guest room) lead to an ipe deck overlooking a sparkling pool. Adults can supervise children swimming while sipping wine from the hot tub built into the deck. In the backyard are mature trees providing shade; as well as a prolific fig tree and young tropical fruit trees waiting to catch up.
This is an inviting house, perfect for everyday life and hosting intimate gatherings of friends and family. Come see for yourself!
California cottage filled with natural light
Traditional cottage exterior, with a cozy front porch, opens into a large and airy dining/kitchen/family area with a living room on one side, a family room on the other. The ceilings are high and open to skylights bathing the rooms with natural light. Fireplaces in both the living and family rooms are flanked by bookshelves. A large game room, with pool table is located just past the living room.
The kitchen has a bowed breakfast nook, surrounded by windows, and a 7-person bar/island, and is adjacent to the open dining area, where there's a massive farm table that can easily seat 12.
Bedrooms and baths flank the east side of the house. The backyard has a large patio/outdoor kitchen with sink and BBQ that overlooks the pool, jacuzzi and fire pit. Down stairs from the main yard/pool area is a separate 1,000-foot fenced garden that's spectacular in the summer.
Huge home ready for your filming
This is a large home at the top of the hill in La Canada.
This custom new-build colonial home was designed to blend with its regal neighbors while providing for the modern needs of its busy young family. Through the two-story expanse of the front foyer, you catch a glimpse of this home's story: an open floor-plan, an abundant indoor-outdoor lifestyle and a celebration of natural light.
Should the sun-soaked yard entice you outside, the immaculate white kitchen off the great room will lure you back in. With quartzite double islands, a stunning glass tile backsplash, coffered ceilings and a large, adjoining family room, this gathering area is the heart of the house. Wander on to explore his and her offices, a large basement for a kid's play area and two designated upstairs bedroom wings, one for the kids and a more private one for adults. A thoughtful balance of the homeowner's Armenian heritage and their love of transitional spaces is achieved with the help of interior design firm, Courtney Thomas Design.
