Teddy was super communicative and Erick the manager made this event PERFECT. Super helpful in every way. Really nice guy. The shop is super clean and instructions were clear and concise. Would book again. We had a film shoot here and there was enough room for some dolly shots and plenty of open areas for our lighting. It gets very busy at night but not anything out of the norm for Hollywood.

Find Tea Party venues

Whether it's a traditional tea party or you just want an excuse to gather with your group of friends on a Saturday afternoon, you'd want it to be fun and special with all the fancy stuff like different teapots, pretty platters, and lovely flower arrangements. Where and how you set it up can mean the difference between a memorable afternoon tea party and an ordinary snack time.

Discover the Best Tea Party Venues

A special event calls for a one-of-a-kind setting. So instead of hosting a tea party in your own dining room or living space, take your guest to a tea house or book a one-of-a-kind venue that reflects your style and personality and matches the theme.

Tea Room
Let’s start with the obvious: the tea room. It could be a large tea house with several tea rooms or a small restaurant or café serving drinks and small meals like tea, finger sandwiches, cakes, scones, and other delicious sweets. It’s the perfect place for a tea party because you don’t have to worry about preparing food and beverages as they often serve brunch, lunch, and cream tea for events.

Rustic Barn
Tea parties at barns will make everyone feel like they’ve stepped back in time. Their natural materials, high ceilings, open, spacious floor plans, and old structures make them a nostalgic and cozy place to hold a special celebration. You can dress it up to your liking and creatively express yourself.

Art Deco Luxury Home
If you prefer a more familiar and homey setting, rent an opulent Art-Deco-inspired house. With geometric patterns, bright contrasting colors, rich material palettes, and decorative glass, the space speaks elegance and class in every detail, suitable for tea parties.

Pizza Café
Unassuming and often overlooked, pizza cafes can be a relaxing spot for a casual afternoon tea with friends and family. Prepare different slices of pizzas in various flavors, such as the all-time favorite pepperoni, mushroom, Margherita, meat lovers, veggie, and Neapolitan, and quench your thirst with a cup of refreshing tea.

Stylish Elegance: What to Look for in Tea Party Venues

Tea parties can mean a lot of things to different people. To some, they’re a formal, lavish affair with defined etiquette and protocols, while for others, they’re a simple gathering with loved ones on a lovely afternoon. Whatever it means to you, find an ideal location with all the essential elements and features for an epic party.

Aesthetic and Function
You shouldn’t choose between the space’s functionality and aesthetic beauty—the venue should have both. Of course, you want a captivating setting that will attract the guests’ attention, but it should also be accessible, practical, and comfortable. It must serve its purpose well, and if you need to make some changes to the design or layout, it should only be small tweaks, not major renovations.

Flexible Decorating Space
You probably have great design ideas, but the space limits your creative potential due to décor restrictions or the small party area. Always opt for a versatile venue where you can unleash your creativity and customize it based on your style and preferences.

Adequate Supplies
Bring what you can to the location, but it’s best to pick a place with adequate supplies like tables, teapots, and tea cups. Some of these items are fragile, so transporting them from one place to another can be tricky. With a well-equipped venue, you only need to set up the supplies and decorate.

Indoor and Outdoor Spaces: Get Creative With Your Tea Party Venue

Everyone has different ways of throwing a tea party. But no matter how you want to do it, you have two options when looking for a venue—whether you’re holding it in an indoor setting or outside. Or, you can have both an indoor and outdoor space in one location.

Before you select the venue, first decide on the type of tea party you want to host. Perhaps the most common tea party, an afternoon tea is a British tradition where you’ll sit down for an afternoon treat of scones, cake, sandwiches, and desserts.

If you prefer a high tea, you must provide more hearty meals that you’ll typically prepare after a long workday. It could be fish or meat dishes, vegetables, or baked food. Think of it as a tea served with dinner. For short gatherings on a budget, cream tea might appeal to you, which consists of scones and tea.

Some people combine a tea party with other events like a baby shower, anniversary, or bridal shower for a more special occasion. You can also plan one for children in a kid-friendly setting, like a garden, park, event hall, or community center. Choose the tea party colors based on the venue and serve delightful tea flavors that little ones will love, such as chocolate teas and fruity drinks.

As you prepare for the party or explore potential venues for the event, you might come up with creative ideas to make it more enjoyable and unique. Don’t be afraid to try new things and discover one-of-a-kind places to gather and celebrate.

Inspiration: Downton Abbey Tea Party Prep

Are you a fan of the popular period drama Downton Abbey and want to feel like you belong to an aristocratic family of the early 20th century? Here are some ideas to pull off a Downton Abbey-themed tea party.

Old-fashioned Vibe
It’s easy to create an old-fashioned ambiance if your venue already has that charming, old-school vibe. Consider historic buildings, museums, art galleries, or even a rustic warehouse you can turn into your dream party space. It’s up to you whether you want to recreate your favorite party scene from the drama or make a unique twist to your event.

Downton Abbey Table Setting
Bring out the vintage chairs and tables, a white tablecloth, and long white candles. Use fruits, lush greenery, or flowers for the centerpiece, but don’t go for the bright and vibrant blooms. Your light source should be candlelight, vintage lanterns, or small dim light for gentle illumination.

Sophisticated Tea Sets
For those who haven’t seen the hit historical TV series, don’t fret. You can still bring the early 20th-century look to your party by preparing classy tea cups and plate sets. Plenty of stores and online retailers sell vintage tea sets; some are crafted with precious porcelain or fine bone china. You can also go to vintage stores that sell exquisite tableware to add to your party table.

Traditional Food and Drinks
The venue is ready, the table looks great, and the tea cups and pots are all set—it’s time to serve the food and beverages. Depending on the type of tea party you’re hosting, you should have finger sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream, cakes, and other savory bites and biscuits. You’ll also need an assortment of herbal, fruity, and caffeinated teas, like Earl Grey, chamomile, and peppermint herbal.

Dress The Part
Your Downton Abbey shindig won’t be complete if you don’t look the part, so dress up in the styles of the 1910s and the ‘20s. Bring out your inner artist by making your own headpiece and accessorizing yourself. Have a costume contest for the most creative and fabulous guests.

Tea Party Venues Rental Guide: The Ultimate Checklist

Successful tea parties don’t just happen. You must follow a few steps and consider several aspects of the planning process for a memorable celebration.

Enlist a Party Planning Expert
Whether you’re hosting a tea party for the first time or have organized many similar events in the past, you’ll get valuable insights from an experienced event planner to elevate the celebration.

Decide on the Tea Party Location
Where you hold the event can affect everyone’s experience and comfort, so be wise when choosing a venue. Tea rooms, banquet halls, and gardens are in high demand, but check out other unconventional spaces like lofts, estate properties, wineries, and farms.

Pick a Theme
Do you want to stick to a Downton Abbey and retro style party or try something new like a high tea party with a modern or cultural twist? You can serve traditional snacks and tea from a specific country or culture like Moroccan, Chinese, or Japanese.

Gather Supplies
Identify your non-negotiables and items you can skip. A selection of tea cups, sweet treats, flavorful teas, tables, and chairs are a must, but you can probably let go of some common party décor pieces like balloons or streamers. It’s good to have music playing in the background, but high-end audio-visual equipment may not be necessary.

Choose Your Floral Style
Floral centerpieces are perfect for large tables while hanging flower decorations are a wonderful way of creating a dreamy atmosphere. You can also place colorful blooms like peonies, roses, and daisies in unused teapots and cups for a decorative look.

Enchanted Tea Party Menu and More: Know Your Teas

Teas are the main characters at your party, so you should be familiar with them. Here are some tea pairings you can serve at the gathering:

Earl Grey Tea
You’ll find Earl Grey blends that can taste a bit citrusy, fruit, or floral. A lemon loaf, brownies, and other sweet pastries go well with this black tea blend.

Mint Tea
Peppermint tea is America’s most common mint tea, and it’s best to find one that’s not mixed with other tea leaves because it would mean it’s caffeine-free. Mint teas, fruit sweets, chocolates, and finger sandwiches make great pairings.

Chamomile Tea
Many people drink this herbal tea when they have trouble sleeping or those with digestive issues. It’s also often present at tea parties due to its apple-like taste, which pairs well with fruity desserts and scones.

Lavender Tea
Another beverage that’s present in almost all tea parties is lavender tea. It can also be combined with mint and chamomile and make a great pairing with cookies and scones.

Oolong Tea
Some teas are compatible with numerous tea snacks and food items, and oolong tea is one of them. It comes from China and has a complex flavor and fragrant aroma.
